The Audio-Visual (AV) Media Club: Fostering Technical Skills and Leadership
The AV Media Club plays a pivotal role in enhancing students’ technical skills
while allowing them to contribute to various school events. Through a diverse
range of activities, the club nurtures creativity, leadership as well as teamwork
and prepares students for future success in media-related fields and beyond.
Technical Support and Media Production:
● Students in the AV Media Club manage the Public Announcement (PA)
system during assemblies and school-wide events, ensuring clear and
efficient communication.
● As the resident photographers and videographers for all school
performances and special occasions, members gain invaluable hands-on
experience in media production and content creation.
Key Involvement in Major School Events:
● This year, the AV Media Club played an integral role in the success of
major school events, including Awards Day, Chinese New Year
Celebration, Hari Raya Concert, National Day Celebration, Teachers’
cum EAS’ Day Celebration, and the Graduation Ceremony.
● The club’s technical expertise ensured the smooth execution of these
significant events.
Encouraging Volunteerism and Innovation:
● The AV Media Club promotes a spirit of initiative and innovation. For
instance, Secondary Three students helped co-plan the Makers’ Education
Programme, which provided AMKsians with the opportunity to explore
3D printing in hands-on sessions. This initiative reflects the club’s
commitment to fostering curiosity and developing problem-solving skills
among students.
Participation in Competitions and Skill Enhancement:
● Club members participated actively in various competitions, such as the
Better Internet Challenge 2025, the Our School, Our Stories Photography
and Videography Contest 2025, and the National Youth Technology
Championship 2025.
● These competitions provided students with opportunities to enhance
their skills, build confidence, and develop strong teamwork abilities,
while gaining recognition for their talents.
Character Development and Skill Building:
● The AV Media Club places strong emphasis on character development to
help students become more confident, adaptable, and disciplined.
● The club also offers coding training sessions, aligned with Singapore’s
Smart Nation initiative, to promote computational thinking and prepare
students for the future digital landscape.
Learning Journeys and Real-World Exposure:
● In addition to training sessions, the club organizes enriching learning
journeys, such as visits to the Singapore Oceanarium at Resorts World
Singapore and workshops on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in storyboarding.
● These excursions offer students with real-world exposure, allowing them
to apply the skills they have learned in practical, hands-on environments.
The AV Media Club offers a well-rounded experience that equips students
with a diverse set of technical, creative, and leadership skills. Through their
involvement, students not only gain expertise in media production but also
develop a strong sense of responsibility, initiative, and teamwork.
