The AMKSS Malay Dance Group, known as Gemilang Sari, is a dedicated group
of dancers passionate about promoting Malay dance and culture. This closeknit
CCA aims to develop our members into poised and confident performers
while fostering a sense of mutual care and support. Guided by the motto ‘Satu
Hati, Satu Jiwa’ which means ‘One Heart, One Soul’ in English, we emphasise
unity and shared passion in our artistic endeavours.
This year marked a significant milestone as we achieved the Distinction
Award at the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation, a testament to our
dedication and artistic excellence. We also performed at various
school events, including MTL Fortnight, Hari Raya Celebration, Awards Day,
National Day and the AMKsian Showcase, providing numerous opportunities
for us to showcase our talents.
Our commitment to excellence extends beyond the school as we participated
actively in exchange programmes, festivals as well as workshops and through
all these, we gained valuable exposure and learning opportunities. This year,
we collaborated with Tampines Secondary School and Yuan Ching Secondary
School, and gained meaningful experiences in our preparation for the
Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation. Our dance leaders also took part
in AMPLIFIED! DanceLab25: Youth Leadership Dance Camp organised by the
Arts Education Branch, further developing their leadership and artistic growth.
In addition, our dancers also had the honour of performing at the prestigious
Muara Festival 2025 at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre as part of the Muara
Youth Development Programme. These programmes have honed our dance
skills whilst instilling discipline, resilience, and camaraderie among members.
Beyond performances, we also actively engaged ourselves in community
service through our Values in Action (VIA) programme, where we introduced
preschool students from My First Skool to the beauty of Malay dance. These
initiatives have helped develop our dancers’ leadership skills whilst fostering
creativity through teamwork and cultural exchange.
In essence, Gemilang Sari is more than a dance group; it is a nurturing
environment where members develop both their artistic talents and
interpersonal connections whilst celebrating the rich heritage of Malay dance
under our guiding motto of unity and collective passion.
