The AMKSS Girl Guides Company strives to develop our Guides into compassionate
and confident youth leaders and mentors who have a keen interest in giving back to
the community. We iterate the slogan “Be Prepared” for any situation and emphasise
the importance of learning essential survival skills such as camp craft and field cooking.
Through instilling moral values, we seek to develop the girls’ characters. Our Guides are
also exposed to a range of global issues and this helps to cultivate a deeper understanding
of the world, fostering empathy and greater social responsibility. To make the guiding
experience more enriching, AMKSS Girl Guides unit continually collaborates with external
organisations and other Uniformed Groups units to conduct sessions such as basic firstaid
training, air pistol and kayaking workshops. World Thinking Day, South Division Day,
skills sharing, outdoor camping and service learning are a regular part of the Girl Guides
programme. Through these activities, our Guides learn the true meaning of commitment,
leadership and teamwork.
This year, some of our Guides were enrolled in the Singapore Cancer Society Smoke-
Free Ambassador’s programme where they not only learned about the harmful effects
of smoking, but also played an active role in advocating anti-smoking messages to other
students. Our Guides have also been serving as ambassadors at Gardens by The Bay since
2023 where they conduct garden trails and facilitate educational programmes for visitors.
This year, our Guides extended their friendliness by hosting students from Brunei and
brought them on an educational tour to highlight the different features in Gardens by
the Bay.. Our Guides also demonstrated their kindness and community spirit by spending
time with the young children at the Little Seeds Preschool. In addition, our Secondary 3
Girl Guides had the exciting opportunity to host the South Division Patch Challenge for
South Division Day 2025 and this experience has helped to build their interpersonal skills
and self-confidence.
AMKSS Girl Guides Unit will continue to provide a nurturing and fun environment that
recognises and maximises the diverse strengths of the girls and caters to their holistic
development.
